Lucknow: Reinforcing its commitment to health awareness and social responsibility, SBI Life Insurance marked its 25th year by advancing its flagship breast cancer awareness initiative, ‘Thanks A Dot’, through an interactive campus outreach programme in Lucknow. The initiative aims to normalize conversations around breast health and encourage early detection through informed, stigma-free dialogue.
As part of the programme, an engaging awareness session was organized at Ambalika Institute of Management and Technology, where over 165 graduate and postgraduate management students participated. The session featured Ravindra Sharma, Chief – Brand, Corporate Communications & CSR at SBI Life, alongside Dr Vibhor Mahendru, a noted surgical oncologist from Ondoc Cancer Clinic.
The speakers led an insightful discussion on early warning signs of breast cancer, the importance of self-examination, and the need to overcome societal taboos associated with the subject. Students were encouraged to adopt proactive health practices and take responsibility for their long-term well-being.
Supporting the initiative, Dr Shweta Mishra, Additional Director of the institute, emphasized the importance of awareness and preventive healthcare among youth. She noted that such programmes play a crucial role in empowering students with knowledge that contributes to a healthier future.
The ‘Thanks A Dot’ initiative uses a simple yet powerful symbol—a hot water bag—to spark conversations around breast health, self-examination, and timely medical consultation. By presenting the topic in an approachable and non-threatening manner, the campaign seeks to remove hesitation and normalize discussions within families and communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravindra Sharma highlighted that college students, especially young women, are at a formative stage where healthy habits can have a lasting impact. He stated that the initiative aims to build awareness about breast cancer and preventive care, while encouraging small but meaningful behavioural changes that can significantly improve health outcomes.
Echoing similar sentiments, Dr. Shweta Mishra said the institute was proud to collaborate on a programme that blends health awareness with education and social responsibility. She added that such initiatives not only benefit students but also extend awareness to the broader community.
Through its ongoing college outreach efforts, SBI Life plans to expand the reach of ‘Thanks A Dot’ across educational institutions nationwide, fostering long-term awareness, encouraging preventive health practices, and empowering India’s youth to take charge of their well-being.
